In summer 2010, transmediale and CTM (club transmediale) invited submissions for the transmediale Award 2011. For the first time this year, together with the Mozilla Foundation/Drumbeat, transmediale announced the inaugural Open Web Award. In a session lasting several days, the internatinal jury nominated the most outstanding works from an impressive pool of more than 1000 submissions.
